They call themselves New Zealand’s very own musical super-group for kids and since 2003, The Funky Monkeys have been dedicated to providing the highest quality musical entertainment to children everywhere.

Vibrant performers Joe, Neil, Chris, and Dizzy Dog, have carefully crafted their engaging material for family audiences, ever drawing on their qualified backgrounds in primary school teaching, composing and live theatre work.

Background

In March 2008, after 5 years of performing and building their popularity with kiwi kids, they quit their “ordinary” day jobs to embark on their “extraordinary” adventure. In 2005, their debut album 'Jungle Party!’ was a huge hit with kiwi kids. 2007 saw the release of The Funky Monkeys “Jungle Party” DVD and 2008 saw the release of their “Get Up Go CD”. In 2010 the Get up Go DVD and Camping Adventure was released.

The motive behind their bold new career move? “We grew up in what we feel was a golden age of kids entertainment” says Chris Monkey remembering back to his childhood. “Violence was at a minimum, and many TV shows we watched were educational both academically and emotionally. We got together because we felt we had something to give back to today's kids”.

As The Funky Monkeys believe that 'letting kids be kids' is the real core of their product, children (and grown-ups!) are encouraged to dance, shout, sing, clap and help throughout the entire show.
