and you won’t need any special knowledge – but don’t take our word for it – it doesn’t
cost anything to
give it a try!
Yes, they can use all of the major credit cards including VISA, MasterCard and American
Express. Credit card support is optional.
No, you don’t need a merchant account from you bank. All you need to do is set up
a PayPal business account. A PayPal business account is free to set up over the
web and only takes a few minutes. PayPal is the internationally recognised online
payment system that is used by services such as eBay and Skype.
You can accept any payment methods that you can process manually. For example, you
may choose to accept payment by internet banking and cheque.
Smallfish will automatically send your payment instructions to the customer.
Simply mark the purchase as paid when you
have received payment.
You can set up your shop for free and see what it will look like. You will only
be charged a fee of $39 per month (including GST) when you want customers to see your
shop and to start selling. Smallfish does not charge any transaction fees. If you choose to accept
payment via PayPal then their fees will apply to those transactions.

Yes, when you set up a Smallfish shop, it can be seen by people from all over the
world and they can purchase your products. You can also restrict your sales to within
New Zealand only if that is what you want and this can be changed at any time.
You sure can. Simply
contact us and we will help you through the few simple steps required to register and use your own domain name for your Smallfish shop. This process
can be done at any time, even after you have launched your shop (visitors will be redirected to your new address).
Yes. You can choose whether your shop’s products are sold in New Zealand or American
dollars. PayPal automatically deals with the currency conversion issues for credit card payments.
You can draw your money down from PayPal into a New Zealand bank account. There
may be a small
fee from PayPal for this depending on the amount you are drawing down.
Our standard fee allows you to have up to 150 products. If you need more than that,
please
contact us.
Yes, you can mark a product as a ‘one-off’. Smallfish will then make sure that only
one customer can purchase it before removing it from your shop.
Our standard fee allows up to 500 transactions per month. If you think that you
might need more than that, please
contact us.
You can specify a base plus per item shipping cost for your various product types
and the different regions of the world. Smallfish will then use this to automatically
calculate a shipping charge and then adds this to your customer's order.
Yes, there is a whole section of your shop where you can create and manage pages
letting your customers know all about you and your products.
We don’t show any advertisements on your shop, other than a small link back to Smallfish.
Yes, your shop can be submitted to Google as well as other search engines and Smallfish
shops are ‘search engine friendly’.
You will receive an email notification from PayPal when you get an order. You can
then use the Smallfish order management area to print invoices, address labels and
checklists as well as search for previous orders.
Yes, Smallfish offers a range of colour and design theme options. You can change
which ones your shop uses whenever you want.
Yes, you can make multiple changes to your products, content and design. You can
then preview those changes as a group before you publish them to your customers.
You can shut your shop down at anytime and you are only charged for your current
month’s subscription. Also, if you create a shop but then decide for whatever reason
that you don’t want it to go out on the web at all, you won’t be charged anything.
How long does it take to build a shop?
It doesn’t take long at all to build a Smallfish shop. If you are ready with photos of your products and know how much you would like to sell them for, you can set up a Smallfish shop from beginning to end in less than an hour.
Can I change my shop once it is on the internet?
Yes, one of the advantages of a Smallfish shop is that you can maintain it yourself, changing colour schemes, layouts, products and information without paying anything extra.
What types of products can I sell?
You can sell anything you want as long as it doesn’t have sales restrictions and is not illegal or offensive (see our
Merchant Terms and Conditions for details).
Currently Smallfish may only be used to create shops that have a valid contact address
within New Zealand. If you are from overseas and are interested in Smallfish, please
